description

The GHBF48-3UL is a compact powerhouse built for remote headwaters, where access often
demands climbing and surefooted determination. The HUNTSMAN’s modern shaft moves as a
natural extension of your arm, delivering effortless control when deploying lures from any
angle or position. Its compact form excels in tight quarters, enabling aggressive, pinpoint casts
even when traditional backswings are impossible. Despite its slim profile, the taut butt section
offers a crisp, decisive backbone for sharp twitching presentations, while the high-tension belly
precisely controls both the hookset and the spirited fight of mountain stream fish. Defying the
expectations of an ultralight, the HUNTSMAN boasts exceptional lifting power, empowering
anglers to confidently target upper-class fish from precarious, elevated positions while
deploying the finesse baits needed to tempt wary targets.

Details

It is no simple task to reach the wild trout that inhabit the most remote mountain rivers.
Anglers require not only advanced fishing techniques but climbing skills and a deep
understanding of the wilderness. The GREAT HUNTING HUNTSMAN rods are built for naturalists
seeking visceral angling experiences in the farthest reaches.

The multi-piece HUNTSMAN is designed to pack down into a backpack, integrating seamlessly
with challenging hikes and treks. The rod shaft is slender and supple to cast lures down to a
mere 1/32oz with whip-like accuracy and yet possesses the power to handle larger trout in the
+4lb class.

To achieve the ideal tip-up rod balance and one-hand cast ergonomics, dense hardwood
handles are carved and hand-finished for an intuitive pistol-grip feel. Line guides of lightweight
titanium further reinforce the balance. HUNTSMAN recalls the nostalgia of an earlier time, its
packable multi-piece form and hand-finished hardwood bringing us closer to the mountainous
wild with each cast.

By: Patterson Leeth  Every year, between the never-ending winter and the impending spring, a grey zone appears—both visually and theoretically. It’s trout season for my wife and me. I’ve found this doldrum to be an enjoyable respite from the windows and walls, and an excuse to traipse through soggy cow pastures and organic fields of […]

Fishing the Okashira Screwhead Hair Jig: Dialing in the Drop

Replacing Urgency with Confidence In highly pressured fisheries, fish have become conditioned to speed. Fast-falling jig heads, aggressive retrieves, and predictable flash have become the norm. Often, that speed results in more follows and fewer commitments. For Arkansas guide and fly tier Daniel Roberts, the answer isn’t adding more action. It is removing it. By […]

Out for a Stroll: Lessons from the Bank with the 5IN Sling Shad

Strolling Secrets: Origins and Essence Hailing from Japan’s ultra-pressured waters—including legendary Lake Biwa—strolling emerged as a technique to present minnow-style baits with understated subtlety. Rather than relying on the exaggerated, side-to-side thump of a paddle-tail swimbait, anglers turned to straight-tail plastics, gaining control over their bait’s every move. Utilizing the same jighead rigging as before, […]
