DESTROYER P5 (JDM) F1-63X PopX Stick

By focusing on the characteristics that allow the POP-X to realize its full potential, the F1-63X became a rare masterwork that unlocks untold potential across the small-plugging world. The POPX STICK draws on the uniquely crisp “spring-back” action of the 5-D GRAPHITE SYSTEM to overcome the soft sluggishness of conventional light action rods. Where past light-action rods bend deep into the blank with wobbly responsiveness and clumsy control, the POPX STICK brings virtually lossless transmission to small plugs, communicating the precise rhythm and energy of each “twitch” to impart irresistible action. Further, the improved blank integrity of POPX STICK reduces blank twist and instability throughout the cast, allowing more precise and powerful placement to conjure key bites.

Revolution brings destructive change. This DESTROYER is king of them all.

In 1995, Yuki Ito prototyped the Destroyer® of traditional bass rods, drawing upon his hand-carved ARMS to unleash an unrivaled fusion of craft and technological innovation upon the Japanese bass market. Each subsequent generation of Destroyer® reached beyond the standards and conventions of their time to establish a new benchmark. A quarter-century later, “Project Living Legend” was established to ensure that each cycle of destruction and creation through innovation preserved Megabass’ rich DNA, bringing anglers ever-closer to the ideal.

Guided by this spirit, the LAIHA program gave birth to a limited concept rod series in 2019, developed to test and refine standard-destroying technologies to push innovation past present limits. From this tireless effort, the 5-D Graphite System was born. Representing a paradigm shift in the blank construction process, 5-D enables a more perfect realization of the Destroyer® through a new method of patterning and layering, unlocking untold potential.

Thus, with each generation, all change—especially destructive—is embraced in the technological pursuit of the angling ideal. Out of this cycle, Destroyer® rises anew to challenge anglers to new heights.

*5D: The 5D system is designed with five performance-optimized panels: #1 for high tension in the longitudinal direction, #2 for 45-degree torsional rigidity on the right side, #3 for 45-degree torsional rigidity on the left side, #4 for lateral stiffness, and #5 for high longitudinal elasticity. The five panels are then arranged to maximize and integrate the distinct performance characteristics of each panel into a cohesive whole, allowing 5D blanks to store and release greater potential energy in the casting motion.

*First released in Japan in 1996, the Destroyer® rod series ushered in an era of unrivaled performance, innovation, and craftsmanship that reverberated throughout the angling world. Built to Japanese angling specifications, each generation of Destroyer® represented an evolution in Megabass® rod design, allowing anglers across Japan to realize ever-greater potential with every cast.

Harnessing this design evolution, the all-new Destroyer® is crafted exclusively for North American anglers. Each model is a careful refinement of key American techniques, tirelessly honed by the insight our designers have gained though thirty-years of innovation across virtually every lure type and category.

Each un-sanded blank features the original Destroyer® logo as a nod to its predecessors, and is constructed of a proprietary Hybrid Graphite System. This system integrates carbon of varying modulus into a single blank, selecting the optimal grade for each bend point for a “Hybrid” construction that is effortlessly suited to the task at hand. Combined with our multi-axis build process, each blank stands in its prime, poised to unleash bombing casts and devastating hooksets, while also revealing a deep wellspring of “lifting power” to control the fight.

Patented blank-through construction, Spiral Architecture Reel Seat, and Head Locker combine to deliver low-profile ergonomics and inspiring feel. Fuji® Titanium SiC® guides are anchored by dual thread-wraps on heavy action models, while stripper guides on all models are finished with a distinctive flourish.

Armed with the best available materials and components, patented advancements, proprietary blank builds and tapers, and that impeccable fit and finish anglers have come to expect from Megabass, these first eight models represent the opening salvo in North America’s own Destroyer® journey. Choose your weapons wisely.
