description

The EXTREME CLIMBER 484 is an ultra-compact, lightweight baitcasting model designed around the exacting requirements of climber and trout specialist Masakazu Fukuyama. Its 4-piece construction collapses to a compact 15 inches, allowing for easy storage for day climbs or week-long excursions. The 4’8 overall length is ideal for tight quarters navigating along rocks, or through thick brush surrounding promising pockets. Built for compact casts with quick wrist-action, the 484 excels in pinpoint accuracy where full motion casts are difficult to execute. EXTREME CLIMBER 484’s precise control of ultralight lures, with a forgiving tip section that smoothly transitions into a strong butt section answers the call of anglers targeting the most extreme stream terrain.

GREAT HUNTING trout rods are the epitome of elegance and extreme performance, designed for the discerning angler who treasures the native trout they chase into the farthest reaches of the wilderness. The GREAT HUNTING line offers a diverse range to meet the requirements of the trek and the target water. From compact multipiece models for the headwaters and pools of icy clear mountain streams, to longer offerings for the rivers, lakes and tailraces where giants lurk, there is a HUNTING partner for every expedition.

Engineered with cutting-edge technology for trout games, GREAT HUNTING rods boast high-torque, slender blanks that deliver exceptional casting accuracy, sensitivity and precision. The ultra-lightweight titanium frame SiC guides ensure minimal resistance and angler fatigue, enabling seamless retrieves and precise line control. The exquisite natural wood inlayed reel seats, meticulously crafted for ergonomic comfort, complete the aesthetic and functional appeal of these rods. GREAT HUNTING stands at the frontier of premiere trout angling, connecting us more deeply to the life-changing experiences that lie in wait in wild waters.

In the early 90s, GREAT HUNTING swept through the Japanese trout market with the X-70 Trout, the world’s thinnest trout minnow equipped with a weight transfer mechanism, and X-55 Trout, the world’s first injection trout minnow under 60mm. These were crafted specifically for native trout such as the masu salmon in the Tenryu River and the char and amago hiding in the valleys of the central Japan mountains.

This relentless dedication captured the hearts of many native trout enthusiasts and fed the nascent waters of trout lure fishing that grows and continues to this day. The MOUNTAIN STREAM EDITION, a quarter-century later, still pursues true GREAT HUNTING at a higher dimension. Carrying the specs of a new generation, it creates an entirely new native trout game.

The habitat of native trout reaches into the deepest wild. Tiny streams originating from headwaters grow as they rush down the mountainside, forming tributaries along the way, beckoning trout towards dreams of open water in lakes or the sea.

The RIVER AND LAKE EDITION is built for those who seek the same trout that quest for bigger waters, bending deep into dramatic fishing scenes that stir the angler’s heart. To the main river and to the lakes. The passionate thoughts dedicated to native trout are brought to life with cutting-edge rod technology and artisanal craftsmanship.
