MAKIPPA FFS is a competition-grade bladed jig engineered specifically for Forward Facing Sonar (FFS) applications, developed with Bassmaster Elite Series pro Brandon Palaniuk and the Megabass U.S. pro staff.

Palaniuk first tied on a modified saltwater MAKIPPA during a Bassmaster Elite Series event on Smith Lake, Alabama, where bass were locked onto small, fast-moving forage. He needed something compact enough to mirror the prey but heavy enough to reach depth quickly and activate bites with a shaking, flashing presence. The results were immediate — he ran it as his go-to bait for the week, made the cut, and posted a strong finish. The MAKIPPA FFS is the freshwater evolution that followed.

Updated with a swiveling hook hangar, short shank treble, and proven freshwater finishes, its compact, heavyweight profile reaches target depth fast, keeping pace with the quick-moving, small-bait scenarios FFS routinely exposes. Our patent-pending Blade Hook System — proven in demanding saltwater arenas — aggressively captures blade bites, eliminating the lost opportunities that plague conventional bladed rigs.

A steady retrieve lets the spinning blade do its work, the mesmerizing flash concealing a deadly hook — but pair a slow, depth-tracing retrieve with rhythmic slack-line twitches and the lure transforms into a darting, flickering baitfish, deadly wherever fish are keying on small, fleeing prey. Speed up the retrieve and the MAKIPPA FFS kicks into tail-spinning escape mode that triggers reaction strikes.

With exceptional depth control, outsized flash, and the superior bite conversion of the Blade Hook System (PAT.P), the MAKIPPA FFS is engineered to dominate the high-pressure, small forage scenarios revealed by modern bass fishing techniques.

Introducing the New LEVANTE

Led by Yuki Ito, Megabass’s next-generation rod development team—Project “Zero”—set out to redefine expectations. Their goal was deceptively simple: to make a foundational bass rod that could be the first—and final—choice of discerning anglers.  Drawing from the technologies and functional concepts proven through years of tournament experience with the US-Spec OROCHI XX and DESTROYER series, […]

MAGDRAFT HEAD: Expanding the Range of a Legendary Action

Where MAGDRAFT Excels The rigged MAGDRAFT is built around three features. The patented Mag-Hold system, category-defining action, a hookup percentage that held up across seasons, forage types, and bass species. It was built for shallow water, and inside that zone it has no equal. Bassmaster pro Kenta Kimura has fished the MAGDRAFT on two continents, […]

DESTROYER EVOLUZION Takes the Third of Design’s Major Awards

Outside the Conversation The world’s major design awards were built around architecture, mobility, consumer electronics, and medical equipment. Fishing tackle was never part of that conversation. Rods were judged by anglers, in the field, on terms the design world had no reason to examine. That changed in 2022, when the DESTROYER and COOKAI series became […]
