"Drop Swimming" combines the best of pinpoint drop-shotting with the proven appeal of a finesse swimmer cruising along the bottom. First, cast the HAZEDONG SHAD out to a target area, like a boulder on a gravel flat. Work it like you would a dropshot for 10-20 seconds. If you don`t get a bite there, start slowly dragging it back, being careful to keep the weight ticking along the bottom. This approach greatly increases the productive range of a dropshot rig, taking out that "needle in a haystack" feel and giving you more chances to comb the bottom for bites.
Tip: Tungsten dropshot weights are much harder than lead, translating into heightened sensitivity when dragging bottom, allowing you to feel the nuances of bottom composition. In many cases, slowing down your drop-swim or pausing to work the bait for a fresh 10-20 second spell when you feel transitions to hard bottom and/or rock will lead to more bites🎣

Opacity & Contrast: The dirtier the water, the more opaque you want your color finish and the more contrast you want in the pattern. Opacity helps the lure`s overall profile stand out, whereas a higher pattern contrast (e.g. darker stripes, a dark back paired with light side) key predators into forage type more quickly. In stained waters, start with a MAT PERCH and in clear waters, start with a GP PRO PERCH, and be sure to experiment from those baselines.
Reflectivity: Whenever there`s sufficient light penetration, lure finish comes into play. A semi-transparent finish like GP has subtle flash, whereas a GG takes it up to an 8 (a 10 is reserved for a mirror chrome finish). The outsized flash of a GG pattern in clear water can be a huge draw, but if followers aren`t committing, dial it back to a GP. From there, you can dial it back even further to a matte finish like MAT PERCH, which almost looks like it gives off a subtle glow in crystalline waters.
