A perfect companion for square bill cranks and other shallow runners, the Megabass OROCHI XX F4.5-70XX FLATSIDE SPECIAL has a silky-smooth bend curve that keeps trebles safely pinned throughout the fight. Featuring a moderate taper, the Megabass OROCHI XX F4.5-70XX FLATSIDE SPECIAL is an all-purpose graphite cranking stick. With that all-important parabolic bend for intuitive casts and just the right amount of “give,” the Flatside Special puts the power, control, and sensitivity of graphite in your hands. 7ft length, shortened rear handle length, and moderate action are also well-suited to topwater’s and 3/8oz spinnerbaits–not to mention jerkbaits for those that prefer a rod longer than our 6’8″ Jerkbait Special.
Inspired by the Orochi, the ancient dragon god of water, the Orochi XX series seeks to capture the raw power and control of its namesake through Megabass’ cutting-edge multi-axis blank manufacturing process, and an uncompromising eye for quality.
Crafted of super low-resin carbon up to the 40-ton grade, the materials of each Orochi blank are custom matched to the rod’s intended application. Each blank features a vertical-axis carbon core wrapped with a 2-axis XX-Micro Carbon layer, followed by an additional vertical-axis carbon layer.
Each blank is then finished off with a 4-axis carbon wrap that goes from the butt section to the mid-section, for a total of 6-axis. Since carbon material is strongest along its axis, this unique manufacturing process adds significant strength to combat blank twist and improve overall structural integrity—all without adding unnecessary weight.
Each Orochi XX is purpose-built for tournaments, and our craftsmen know that a single cast can make all the difference. Each rod has a carefully selected range of tangle-free Fuji KWSG, KR-H, and Fuji small caliber Alconite guides for smooth casting and increased sensitivity; Fuji reel seats; Megabass custom ITO Head Locking Reel Seat (PAT.); a rubber/cork composite end cap to protect against fierce hook sets; and lastly, that fit and finish you can only expect from Megabass.
